The Brief and The Goal:
LPV Florist is a business offering floral design courses and floral arrangements. The brief was to create a homepage that serves both as an educational hub for users interested in floral courses and as an e-commerce platform for selling floral products. The goal was to deliver a homepage that enhances user engagement, provides easy access to course information and products, and strengthens the brand’s online presence.
Primary Objectives: Increase course sign-ups, boost product sales, and elevate brand recognition.
Target Audience: Floral enthusiasts, students interested in floral design, and customers looking to buy flowers for events.
Design Requirements: Aesthetic appeal that aligns with LPV Florist's floral design ethos, with easy navigation for both courses and products.
The homepage needs to feature sections like "Featured Courses," "Featured Collections," "Our Teachers," and "Testimonials," emphasizing both the educational offerings and the floral products. Additionally, the design must be responsive to ensure a seamless experience across devices, particularly mobile.
1
The First Step
Conduct research to understand the target audience’s needs and LPV Florist’s business goals.
Steps:
User Personas: Develop personas for potential students and customers, detailing their goals, pain points, and needs (e.g., ease of navigation, clear course descriptions, quick access to floral products).
Competitive Insights: Gather best practices from successful floral and educational e-commerce websites, such as clean navigation, enticing product imagery, and easy course registration processes.
Goal Alignment: Ensure the design supports LPV Florist’s goal of increasing sales, brand visibility, and course participation.
2
The Challenge
The main challenge was creating a design that balances LPV Florist’s educational offerings with its e-commerce features, while providing an engaging user experience for diverse audiences.
Combining Educational and E-commerce Elements: Balancing the layout to accommodate both course details (e.g., schedules, teacher bios, certifications) and products (e.g., floral arrangements, collections).
Maintaining Brand Identity: Ensuring the design reflects the floral industry’s aesthetics while staying professional and aligned with LPV Florist’s image.
The website must effectively integrate content for both flower products and educational services, providing a user-centric design with intuitive navigation. This required a design that highlighted key services, showcased beautiful floral imagery, and allowed easy access to essential information, all while maintaining LPV Florist’s elegant and professional image.
3
The Approach
A user-centered design approach was taken to prioritize user needs while aligning with LPV Florist’s business goals.
4
The Result
The final design resulted in a homepage that effectively communicates LPV Florist’s brand identity while providing an intuitive experience for both prospective students and floral customers.
Enhanced Brand Image: The floral-inspired design elements successfully reflected LPV Florist’s professional yet welcoming image.
Streamlined User Flow: The design led to a smooth transition from product browsing to checkout or course enrollment, making the website both functional and visually pleasing.
Continuous Improvement: Following the launch, continuous testing and user feedback will be used to refine the site further, improving the user experience and supporting LPV Florist’s long-term growth goals.
